Last weekend, Matlack Florist celebrated our Annual Holiday Open House. Not only was it a great opportunity to take advantage of some spectacular sales, it was also a great day for some yummy BREAD.
An Open House tradition at Matlack Florist is our delicious assortment of home-made breads. Each year, customers ask for the recipes, and we are happy to oblige! We'll start with the 2 favorites of the day. Keep checking for more!
LEMON BREAD (a favorite of yours truly)
Makes 2 loaves
Cream: 1 C Butter, softened and 2 C sugar. Beat Well.
Add: 4 large eggs. Beat Well
Combine: 3 C flour, 1/2 t salt, 1 t baking soda, 1 t baking powder.
Add: 1 C milk, 1/2 C sour cream
Add: zest of 2 lemons, 2t lemon extract
Glaze: lemon juice, 10X sugar.
Optional: 2T poppy seed
Bake at 325 degrees for 60 minutes.
ZUCCHINI WALNUT BREAD
Makes 2 loaves
1 C Crisco Oil
2 C sugar
2 eggs
2 C grated zucchini
Add: 3C flour
3 t cinnamon
1 t baking soda
1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
1 C chopped walnuts
Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour, 10 minutes.
